Save On Airfare with AirFareWatchDog

Again, my wife and I find our self’s flying across the country, which will cost us exactly $560 (a relative bargain I might add).  What’s worse is this same trip used to cost us less than $400 two years ago.  I don’t necessarily like flying, maybe it’s the prices that turns me off, but let’s face it, sometimes it’s unavoidable.  In order to deal with these soaring prices, test your luck with AirFareWatchDog, a site that was referred to us through a friend.

I was skeptical at first; I thought it was another Travelocity, Expedia, or Kayak.  This site is much different in the sense that it constantly checks flight prices for you from a specified airport to any airport you choose.  In addition, the site also shows the best daily rates from your closest airport to certain destinations experiencing special bargains.  If my wife and I would have flown a weekend later using AirFareWatchDog, we would have saved about $200.

As ridiculous as flights are starting to cost, maybe the best way to plan trips is by flying only when these bargain prices occur.  Searching through the site today, I found, like you would imagine, that most of the holidays are more expensive, but usually the following weekend the price drops significantly.  It’s important to point out that this site will email you based on your preferences of prices changes going to the cities you have chosen.  This is extremely helpful in my opinion, because for no rhyme or reason it seems flights go way up or down in a matter of days.  This will keep you on top of radical fare changes without us having to actually search flights all the time.  Best of all its free!  Check it out, set up some alerts, and hopefully you can save – now if we could only take our bags on for free.  $

Thanks for the recommendation! We were about to suck it up and buy something from Kayak, but now it looks like we might be finding something better :)
