Labor Day is known to be the unofficial (or official to some, I guess) end of summer.  We get a long weekend and the roads are insanely crowded by travelers trying to squeeze in one last trip.  School is starting and its our last hurrah before the fall.  I am taking part: Wedding in Colonial Williamsburg.

In any case, Happy Labor Day, make a wish that the U.S. creates more opportunity for more labor so we can  try to wiggle out of this economic slump!

Labor Day

What are your options to take advantage of this extra time?  Two things come immediately to mind -  a Staycation and DIY.  What if you didn’t go somewhere?  What if you calculated all the gas you would save and put that towards something longer lasting?

Remodeling This Life is member of the Money Life Network and has a propensity to alter her surroundings and do things herself to improve her home.  While you could probably do quite well to read all of the DIY tips, we are going to focus on something quick, easy as well as an immediate result: storage solutions.

  • In the Bedroom – With the help of her husband, she displays an increase of space for “hangables” as well as shelving.
  • In the Living Room – A smaller living room that utilizes and takes advantage of dual purpose furniture.
  • In the Kitchen – The keyword here for optimizing for more room in a kitchen is “wall space.”  She also shows how she went up in order to hold more.

These are but a few of the tidbits of information that can be found at Remodeling The Life.  Check out the rest!

We want to hear more from you, dear reader, what are some projects you would like to see done around the house?
