After a brief hiatus of buying a foreclosure, rehabbing it and moving in, I am back on schedule.  Thank you Frank for filling in on your nights off, I owe you one!  Now, in light of Halloween approaching… twisted

Vampire Power

Naturally, I have about a thousand new tips for this whole process but something came across my eye as I cruised the internet today: Vampire Power.  This is essentially almost any electric device that you plug in, and even though it is off, is still drawing power from the wall, even when its in stand-by mode.  The first resolution is to simply use a (Smart Power) strip that has a switch on it to kill the juice but the point is that it may surprise you as to what is exactly draws energy.  Your fridge is a tough one to turn off but your TV is a great candidate.  But what about your microwave?  Does your computer run all the time?  Even an LCD monitor being turned off can reduce your bill over the course of a year.  Check out the video below! I am a big one for unplugging everything or using power strips to shut of banks of electronics. It doesn’t take that much extra effort and it saves me money. I used to unplug my microwave, but in the place I am now, I can’t do that. Still, I found the control to at least shut off the clock function.
