Earn Money for Anyones Education By Shopping

What haven’t companies tried to get you into their doors and spend your money?  Lately, I’ve seen 0% financing for car deals, economic stimulus deals, and extra cash back bonuses.  Now, Upromise offers money for yours or others education if you shop at their participating stores.  It’s a good concept, because if you going to spend the money anyways, why not help yourself or others close to you out?

How it Works
When you or a friend or family member (niece, grandchild etc.) sign up for an account, you can shop at participating Upromise companies and like credit card rewards, money will be funneled into either your account or a family’s account that can be used for education purposes.  You can apparently even earn money to pay back a current student loan if you have one.

What Stores Participate

They advertise 600+ online stores, 8,000 restaurants, and 21,000 grocery and drug stores all participate in the program.  Here are some notable stores: Macy’s, Oldnavy.com, Target.com, Walmart.com, Foot Locker, Kmart.com, and Urban Outfitters to name a few.  Grocery stores do not participate like it appears from their webpage, rather if you register your grocery or drugstore card, you can receive cash back on certain products.

Worth It?
The idea is new and genuine, but there really aren’t enough stores to really make it worthwhile.  They need to include big name grocery stores where a lot of us spend major dollars.  In addition, people don’t do all their shopping online, so shopping in stores like Target and Wal-Mart should be included into the program.  I guess it can’t hurt to sign up your son or daughter for the program and let some of your relatives know about it, there is a potential to make some money, but until everyday stores participate, it will likely be a good idea that fizzles.  $

I do purchasing for 2 home-based businesses and we earn a lot of money on supplies from Staples.com for our Upromise account. We don’t have children so it’s going to our nieces & nephew. I think I’ve earned $750 in the last 3 years, not bad.
