Spend ‘Em If You Got ‘Em, Take a Vacation

Need to Get Away?
Cash is king—having money when nobody else does is the best way to take advantage of investments and bargains. When entire sectors of business are struggling to get customers—like the vacation industry currently is—it usually represents a great time to snag up a bargain trip. Unfortunately, in the long run, this can represent less competition because some companies may ultimately fail, the short term rewards are great for those that can afford it however. That is what you are currently seeing in the vacation market, those of you that can afford a vacation this year, may find yourself saving nearly 40 percent of what you would have spent just a couple years ago.
What kind of Deals Can You Expect? A lot of resorts and hotels are offering things such as a free extra nights or upgrades. A lot of the vacation packages are now coming overflowing with options, like golf or spa discounts/vouchers. However, it’s worth nothing that many times these types of packages may end up costing you more money. For example, they may fall just dollars short of the total costs, or be a few dollars away from bigger and better package.
The major problem now is companies are jocking for position to get vacationers at such steady clip that deals are changing by the day. Booking really far in advance might actually end up costing you more, which is the opposite to what we have been trained to think. In fact, if you are flexible enough and can book a vacation package just weeks in advance, you may see your overall cost drop as much as 65 percent!
A good way to stay on top of travel deals is to sign up for email alerts through companies like TravelTicker and Travelzoo. It’s also a good idea to use sites like Airfare Watchdog, which also financially rewards those that are flexible with their travel dates.
