Do You Snuggie?

I remember when I first saw the commercial for a snuggie—I laughed.  Now, today I read that over 4 million people have purchased them.  Really?  In case you have a quick trigger finger and you don’t sit through commercials, a snuggie is a fleece blanket that has arms, looks ugly, and is a waste of money.  (I can’t believe I just added the word “snuggie” to my Microsoft Word dictionary).

Maybe people are attracted to these things because of the price.  Apparently, you can get two for $19.95.  Or maybe it’s the free book light that comes with it that gets your attention.  Whatever it is, I don’t get it.  Is this not how people get into financial trouble?  I understand that $19.95 is not going to break most people’s banks, but if you are influenced by a commercial as cheesy as the snuggie commercials, then perhaps a financial reality check should be on your list of things to do.  One dumb purchase can lead to the next.

My wife seems to always be cold.  To cope, we avoided buying a snuggie and she put on a sweatshirt.  In fact, we even have some fleece ones with arms!  When we are still cold we might even use a traditional blanket. I know, we are oldschool.  If you own a snuggie, please try to convince me to buy one, I want to hear it.  Do you snuggie?  $

No snuggie for me either – I’ve seen those commercials and it looks like multi-colored monk robes! ;)

My mom bought one for my husband for Christmas (it’s not a snuggie, but whatever version is being hawked on QVC). It makes a nice blanket? But unless they put elastic around the sleeves, it just slides around and becomes pointless. The cat loves to sleep on it.

And no, it DIDN’T come with a reading light! I feel so CHEATED!

I have a friend who got one but I didn’t believe him until he posted a picture on Facebook!

I agree that this is one of those items someone will use once or twice and forget about it for a few years until they decide to throw it on eBay or Craigslist and recoup $2 of their $19.95 investment.

I keep it cold in my house, so I think I would love on of those things. Right now I walk around with a blanket draped on my shoulders sometimes.

You are right, they aren’t pretty, but they are just for around the house so who cares.

You could almost make one…old blanket and some simple stitching? I think Target has some really cheap fleece blankets…

Robbed! But to tell you the truth, I got one of those reading lights (NOT BC I GOT A SNUGGIE) and I have to say…it was a crap thing anyway, I never used it.
