Proof of Monster Cable Scam
There seems to be no end in sight with big retailers touting the benefits to over priced cables like Monster. It has been said over and over again that there is no need to buy cables in the fancy packaging. What many of the stores do is have a display that shows the “Monster Difference.” Upon closer inspection, there is no comparison between two equally rated cables, with different shielding; one would be HDMI and the other would be a form barely above RF modulator. Monster Cable also has the “awesome” business model to say that you can get different speeds out of different cables: C’mon! How do you sleep at night with all the lies?
Check out this report as well.
The latest is still being done at Fry’s Electronic Store: where one TV had an HDMI connection going up against what looks like S-Video. Tsk tsk Frys…

I would love to hear someone try and defend these cables as a worthy expense. Keep in mind that I do believe in decent shielding over longer distances…

Then there’s the whole coat hanger challenge where audiophiles couldn’t tell the difference between Monster audio cables and a coat hanger.

Not to mention Monster going after any company with Monster in their name.

I’m really not a fan.
@the weakonomist: I think you might be exactly right
@colormist: Nice finds! Engadget is like a freight train isnt it?
This is so stereo type and hatred, suppose Audio Quest and other company that makes high end cables that cost extremely higher will beat the coat hanger theory ???. Or just like everyone else go to Monoprice and get $2 cable that will sound the same as $60 cable or beat the coat hanger.
After seeing hundred of positive review on Monoprice and nearly NONE negative feed back on all their products line, I went ahead and purchased few cables and speaker wire to find out that the quality isn’t there. Example HMDI cable connector get so loose after fews disconnect not to mention their HDMI cables are not Silicon Valley certified if you don’t know what it is google it, crack on the end where connector and body rubber meet, also my speaker wire in 250′ roll seem to be short of 9 feet many complaint about this but still left positvie feedback, it suppose to be 12gauge but really 14. I contact them and got dance around, so I left them negative feed back and it never got post, instead got an email from manager saying if I reverse my feed back he will gladly to refund exclude shipping or they can send the short 9′ to me if I was agree to pay for the shipping. So these guy are practicing better than Monster huh?.
Like many other reviewers said….don’t buy Monster power center overprice junk but get the Paramax it much better product but cost 1/2 MORE?. This just plain hatred period and does not served or have anything to do with products.
I’m not here to denfend Monster company also I would never buy their products at full price (MSRP) would you pay for a car @ MSRP at the dealer?. Just few click and you can find them much cheaper at online authorized dealer, most of peoples buy them on Ebay Monster M series cable for $20 where as MSRP for $300 and than go to forum/Amzon posting complaints about cable not producing what it worth..exactly $20 is what they paid for not $300 where is the theory of $20 and $300 gone?.
Lastly please check out HDMI dot com website to find out different speed over different cables and for sheildling it doesn’t matter short or long if you place a bare wire near an outlet or power cable you will hear hiss or hum on your speakers.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Monster is paying Frys to do this. Monster has done some questionable things over the past few years. They even tried to sue when some company proved their cables were no better than the store brand.
I hate monster and would never buy their stuff.
