3 Tips to Save You Money in Your Daily Routine

If you are like many people these days, you have an established routine that takes you to certain places and spending money in the same ways. With the current economic climate, it can be easy to fall into negative spending patterns that slowly spend large amounts of money over time. What follows is a brief list of ways you can decrease your daily spending and have more money to put away. Over time, you will see a big difference in what you spend and change some habits that may be getting in the way of you making the most of your money.
Make Your Own Coffee
Even if you are the biggest connoisseur of coffee, it behooves you to make cutbacks in your spending when it comes to your daily cup of Joe. Think about the cost of your morning coffee: even if you simply buy the brewed coffee at a premium coffee shop, you are likely spending close to two dollars for each cup. If you buy high-quality coffee at the grocery store, you may only end up paying $8 for half a pound of premium coffee. This may provide you with great coffee for up to a month if you only brew one cup each day in a French press.
Pack Your Lunch
Buying the supplies necessary to make yourself lunch for a whole week is certainly far cheaper than buying lunch out, even if you go to a place with a value menu. Additionally, you’re far more likely to create healthier lunches for yourself when you realize that you can easily make great food to eat at a fraction of the cost you would pay eating out.
Get Your News on the Web
Unfortunately, the daily newspaper is on the decline. It’s now far easier to get your news online, which is not only eco-friendly, but free for the most part. Getting news from a variety of sources is another benefit of getting your information online. Check different news outlets, including CNN, The New York Times, NPR, and Fox News. Compare stories and enrich your analytical skills by gathering information from multiple sources.

Not buying magazines and newspapers is a great way to save money. I’m very guilty of it – I like the feel of a new edition waiting to be read. It’s better to just get them all online.

dammit, I knew “Make Your Own Coffee” would be #1 on this list. (typing this after sipping the last of my double-latte)
I already do #2 & #3–I just didn’t want to make my own espresso in the morning.
To counter Grant’s suggestion, all the employers I’ve worked for recently charge you if you use the office phone. Skype would probably work, though.

Good thoughts…
In addition…walk…carpool…use the office phone and not your cell phone minutes…
