How to Improve MLB.TV Video Quality
I realize it’s late in the season and most likely, by doing the math, your team is far out of the pennant race and so this post likely comes a little late. However, if you are one of the baseball fans that takes advantage of MLB.TV, and you’re still watching your team, then you should definitely try this tip to vastly improving your video quality (at least it worked great for me). If you don’t have MLB.TV, you should consider next season, I find it to be a great deal for budget mined baseball fans considering the quality of the stream and the number of games available, especially if you have some sort of media machine hooked up to your TV.
The secret to improving the quality of your MLB.TV stream is watching it through Boxee, a free software that you can install on your computer to manage your media. In the process of dropping my cable service and relying on Boxee and the internet and over the air HD signals for my media (which I plan to post about later), I discovered after playing the pre-installed MLB.TV app within Boxee, that the quality improved dramatically. It appears that the app within Boxee buffers ahead in the game to allow the better playback, but I’m not entirely sure why it is so much better.
Another advantages of Boxee’s MLB.TV app is that it allows you to watch a game from the beginning, even if the game has already started, acting just like a DVR would. Also, the app doesn’t play all of those annoying repeat commercials! Make sure you choose the high quality when you launch the game you intended to watch and hopefully your video quality will be HD quality like mine now is, if only I would have discovered this about 130 games ago : )

MLB.TV is useless if you live in the same market as your favorite team.
